What To do In Capri ~ 8 Of the Best Things To Do In Capri

Just a half hour ride from Naples and about 40 minutes from Positano by hydrofoil, Capri is synonymous with impossible glamour, style, and celebrity.

Capri-By-Night

The island is exquisite, with so much to see and do, but most tourists barely make it out of the central Piazzetta.
If you are heading to Capri this summer, or ever, here is my list of 8 Things To do In Capri:

1. Buy World Famous Capri Sandals.

Schettino-Sandals-Capri

You have to take the funicular from  Marina Grande to Piazza Umberto I anyway, so while you are there turn right and walk along to Schettino and visit my friend Aldo. He made sandals for Jackie Onassis, he makes sandals for me, and he has made sandals for readers of this blog from all around the world, so he might as well make sandals for you too!

(When you go in there make sure you tell them you read this blog - they love to hear about it!)
Once you've bought your sandals, get as far away from the tourist crush of the Central Piazzetta as you can.

2. Go For A Walk
Walking-in-Capri

My favorite thing to do in Capri is to walk. Even if you are there on a cruise and only have a few hours, go buy some sandals, then point yourself in any direction and walk. As soon as you are a couple of blocks from Central Piazzetta you will discover a whole different Capri, devoid of tourists and crowds. Discover the walkways, the homes, the Roman villas. Take in the staggering views and breathe in the heady scent of honeysuckle and lemons.

3. Visit Villa San Michele, Anacapri

"My home shall be open in order to let in the sun, and the wind, and the voices of the ocean, like a Greek temple, and there shall be light, light everywhere!"

Axel Munthe's home with it's unbelievable panoramic view from the north eastern side of Anacapri is now a museum housing Roman and Egyptian artifacts. The museum is wonderful as are the gardens and the chapel, and the view of the Bay of Naples.

4. Take a ride in a convertible taxi

Taxis-in-Capri

The taxis in Capri are like none other! It's fun to take a spin around the island in one of their taxis. From the Central Piazzetta take a taxi to Anacapri or to the Blue Grotto.

Booking.com5. Check out the Blue Grotto.

Like visiting St Marks in Venice (read about it HERE), you somewhat have to go to the Blue Grotto when you are in Capri.
Take a taxi from the central piazza - the ride is lovely. You only actually spend about 2 minutes inside the grotto, but its a magical two minutes! I went with my best friend in the world, and will never forget it.

6. Take A Boat Trip.
The most lovely way to see Capri is by boat. Take an excursion and see the island from the ocean. stop off at little beaches, have a swim, float around and be completely wowed.

7.Take The Chairlift To Monte Solaro

This is the highest point on the island, and the views are so spectacular they will remain imprinted in your mind forever.

(If you are scared of heights, and I am, the ride up will stay with you forever too!)

8. Get Some Beach Time

Fraglioni-Capri
Fragalioni, Capri

Make like a super star and get yourself some beach time, far from the madding crowd. From the Punta Tragara viewing point there is a little track that takes you to the rocks at the foot of the Faraglioni (the 3 giant rocks always associated with Capri). There are 2 private beach clubs, each with a wonderful restaurant, my favorite being  Da Luigi.

The great thing is you don't have to scale the mountain back up at the end of the day - both private beach clubs will boat shuttle you back to Marina Piccola.

3 Bridal Beauty Tips Four Months Before Your Wedding Day

If you have at least four months before the big day I have 3 bridal beauty tips for you!

bridal-beauty-tips

Lash Out

Most of my brides head somewhere beachy for their honeymoon, and don't want to look totally makeup free even while frolicking in the waves, so I advise them to up their lash game 3 to 4 months before the wedding. A great fringe of lashes paired with a pretty lip gloss not only looks lovely but is super easy too.
I'm not a fan of lash extensions. They look great the first week but then start looking messy, twisting and twirling, falling out and looking patchy. My best friend had them a while back and after 3 rounds of fills all of her own eyelashes broke and fell out.
On the wedding day I love false eyelashes, but my favorite thing is to actually grow eyelashes. I swear by a product called Latisse. Not only does it give you longer lashes, but it makes them grow thicker too.

Try starting Latisse 3 or 4 months before your wedding and you will be amazed at how gorgeous your lash-line is by the time your wedding rolls around!

Reduce The Lines
I am a huge fan of Botox. Huge.
So long as it is done by the right person it can be the most brilliant thing ever.
We've all seen bad botox jobs - here in Phoenix we have the Scottsdale mask Of Horror, a delightfully hideous yet oddly frequent affliction where it looks like someone has grabbed the woman in question by the back of the scalp and tugged her face back. Somewhat Norma Desmond-like these women trawl the shopping streets of Scottsdale, devoid of expression other than the moment immediately prior to a scream.
It's too fantastic for words.
The really great work however, goes un-noticed, which is exactly how botox should be. A gentle softening of the fine lines and wrinkles, removal of frowns, a slight lift to the brow, an imperceptible lift to the outer corner of the lips. When done correctly by a master technician, Botox is divine.
I recommend Botox to many of my brides/bridesmaids/mothers of brides.
Generally I have first timers go 4 months prior to the wedding. Botox lasts about 3 months, giving them a chance to experience the effects of it, and then get a little touch up the month before the wedding. Botox averages about 72 hours to take effect. I never want my brides having any injectables the week of the wedding, just in case they bruise or get any needle marks.

 Backfat Buster

backfat-coolsculpting

Plenty of girls have an extra little roll of love popping out over their strapless dress. Maybe its backfat, maybe its rolling around her under arm. Its one of those places that you can workout and half train yourself to death, but it won't go away.
If you are planning on a strapless dress, a low back dress, or a dress that shows a little something that you want to hide, you may want to think about Coolsculpting. Coolsculpting will grab that extra fat, freeze it, and make it disappear. Its magic! It works pretty much anywhere, but my favorite is watching it take away the roll of fat that wants to seep out over the back of a strapless dress. Coolsculpting takes about 3 months to take full effect, so I advise my brides to have it 4 months before the wedding, givingg them time to have any final alterations done to their dress.

I send my clients to Botox Guru Dr Blume of Blume Skin Centre in Scottsdale. They get Coolsculpted, lasered, get any Botox or filler at Blume Skin Center and I have never had anyone less than absolutely ecstatic with the results.

Ritual

Ritual

Our rituals are a part of what defines us.
The little rituals we make as families shape our memories and help us to identify ourselves as a family. From Saturday night pizza and movies, to the order our Christmas follows, from the way we celebrate family birthdays to the way we take our annual vacation, it's the little rituals that form our little memories, that go on to become the big memories once we are grown.

Sometimes our rituals are what keep us sane in a helter skelter busy world, where the demands of a career, family needs, endless commuting and a fast paced life can leave your head spinning.
Do you have any little rituals that you look forward to? For me it's the little things.

How-To-Do-A-Sheet-Mask
clearly this is not me :))

Like my Sunday night ritual. If I'm home, and not on a shoot I like to put on a sheet mask, kick back, put my feet up and read for a while.

sheet-masks
some of the sheet masks I ordered last week

I buy sheet masks on Memebox. And I buy tons of them.

Sometimes  I want a skin brightening mask if I think my complexion is looking dull. Or a deep hydrating mask, or maybe a firming and lifting mask - whenever I'm freestyling around on the Memebox website I always wind up buying more. At anywhere from $1 to $8 each they are totally affordable, and always feel so luxurious.

I buy serums and essences, facial mists and ampoules, every kind of skin care product you can think of on the Memebox site, but always add in sheet masks.

And on Sunday nights I take a little time for myself (and my complexion!) and have a little sheet mask love. This weekend I'm doing a pearl brightening mask. I have a bunch to choose from....

Memebox New Boxes For Spring

I am addicted to Memebox.
Totally.
I am always cruising their site, ordering the most brilliant Korean skincare products. I obsess over the serums and the sheet masks - everything I have ever bought on there has been phenomenal.

Strawberry-Ice-box-memebox

Memebox is however, famous worldwide for it's boxes. Fabulous combo's of full sized makeup and skincare products, they make great gifts for others and are a fun way to build your own skincare and makeup wardrobe.

Memebox

The Memebox boxes sell out quickly, and I have personally missed out on a few by not ordering them quickly enough.
They just released these 5 new boxes for spring, each is color coded and has it's own list of products inside.

2 Things Successful People Have In Common ~ via Zanita

I follow ZanitaZanita on Instagram, and recently started reading her fabulous blog (Zanita.com.au)

Sometimes I think my own life is just a combination of passion, resilience and tenacity. People always tell me I'm lucky (in spite of the endless hours of hard work, the long nights staying up making deadlines, the endless sacrifices it takes to achieve a worthy goal...)
Suffice to say I really identified with this post and I hope you do too!

I loved this post about the 2 Things Successful People Have In Common

In a world where we’re hyperaware of everyone’s accomplishments, it’s easy to look around you and immediately think success came easily for some and that money and connections are the two contributing factors to success.

I see this all the time as I read comments about successful fashion bloggers on WhoWhatWear and Fashionista, but if you look deeper, you’ll quickly realize that there are two key things that actually propelled those individuals to where they are today. With these things in mind, you too, can cultivate yourself, build good habits, and some day get there.
Vogue-Paris-May-2013-Edita-Vilkeviciute-by-Gilles-Bensimon-9

1. Passion.

Everything starts with Passion for it is the primary driver of initiative and energy. It’s important because successful people must have the energy to work relentlessly. You may not be smarter or more experienced than those around you, but surely, you can outwork them if you have the passion and drive. Plus, when all else fails, your passion will be the only thing that remains – is it enough to keep you going?

2. Resilience & Tenacity.

These two go hand in hand and you need them to succeed simply because they triumph when talent and skill do not. With failure being inevitable along the way, Resilience lets you bounce back and try again. Tenacity is what forces you try every option and analyze every outcome – it’s ultimately what makes “success” happen. Both are what will keep you from throwing up the white flag.
Vogue-Australia-April-2013-6Success comes in both big and small waves, but before you make big things happen, you need to overcome the small. Recognizing your small wins and understanding the steps and setbacks you went through to get there allows you to visualize that it is the exact thing you need to do to be successful – just on a different scale.
It drives me insane when people call me lucky because luck
sounds like I sat on my bums while opportunity came knocking on the door. However, I can’t even count the number of hours I’ve spent learning something new or perfecting a skill, which all stemmed from a passion for wanting to do better and go further in life.
So the next time you’re questioning your ability and capacity, ask yourself, “Why did I start?” Then remind yourself of all the obstacles you had to overcome to get to where you are and just keep going. After all, I truly believe,
“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
