Let It Glow, Let It Glow, Let It Glow! 3 Products For Luminous And Radiant Winter Skin

During fall and winter your skin tends to look a little flat and dull.
Bronzers typically look orangey and somewhat odd on winter complexions, and most highlighters look shimmery or glittery and make your winter skin look crazy.

On my speaking tour for Luca Magazine I talked about adding glow to your complexion, and I've had so many messages from ladies in my audience asking me to go back over the products I talked about.

I'm crazy about this product! When I want an all over glow to the skin, not as a wet look, but a healthy gleam that looks like sunshine beaming out from within, I use Charlotte Tilbury's Wonderglow.

Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Spotlight 700

I love this one for running highlight along cheekbones, collarbones and shoulders. Highlight shouldn't be sparkly, it should illuminate and radiate, and this product makes the skin luminous and glowy.
The stick form makes it easy to swipe it across the skin, but I prefer to use a duo fiber makeup brush. You can apply the Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Spotlight 700 either before foundation or after, (or both!), and can make it a subtle glow or ramp it up to a super sheen - you're in charge!

How To Line Your Entire Eye With Eyeliner

So, to recap:

1. Think about the shape of your eye.
If you have small eyes, keep the liner thin as completely ringing your eye with liner can make it look smaller.
If you have very close set eyes, don't take the liner all the way into your inner corner, as it can make your eyes look even more closely set together.

2. Use a moderately sharpened pencil - don't sharpen it to a tight point as it will probably crumble. Don't use a completely blunted down pencil either, as you will lose definition. You want to have control of the line you are creating.

3. Lie the pencil on it's side and move it through the lashline, using small, even strokes.
Start in the middle of your eye, move the pencil through the outer corner, ans then come back through the inner corner.
Don't try to pull it through in one perfect sweep - chances are it will bounce across the eye and make a bumpy, uneven mess.

4.Using an eyeliner brush (like the Corinna B Taklon liner brush) and a powder eyeshadow that matches your eyeliner pencil - dark brown shadow with dark brown pencil / black shadow with black pencil etc

firstly set the pencil with shadow to stop it moving and disappearing as the day/night wears on, then secondly using feathering motions, buff through the pencil and soften out that line.
Tipping the angled liner brush on its side, slide it under your lower lashes, and buff a soft smudgy line, accenting your lower lashes. (I prefer not to use pencil under the eye as it doesn't have much staying power and can look too severe)

5. Top it off with a couple of coats of mascara.

1. Make sure the area has been cleansed and prepped.
I like to put a think veil of foundation and powder topped with eyeshadow primer and some eyeshadow.
Use a neutral matte shadow if you don't want your eyes to look like you have shadow on.
By prepping the eye area you are giving the liner something to grab on to, and to hold.
Eyeliner applied to bare skin is not likely to stay in place for very long.

Think about the shape of your eyes.
If you have small eyes, completely ringing the eye in eyeliner can actually make them look smaller.
If your eyes are set close together having eyeliner come all the way into the inner corners can make your eyes look as if they are even closer together.
If you have deep set eyes ringing them entirely in liner can make them look further recessed.

Sharpen your pencil, but not to a sharp point - it will just crumble when it makes contact with your skin.

Lie the pencil slightly onto it's side, and starting in the middle of the lash line make small feather like movements across the eye.
If you have small eyes, keep the line thin.
If you have close set eyes either fade the liner out before you get to the inner corner, or keep it very thin through the inner 1/3 of the eye.

Once you have the eye lined in pencil, take a liner brush like the Corinna B Angle Taklon Liner (CorinnaB.com) and an eyeshadow that matches your liner color (black shadow with black liner, brown with brown etc).
The first pass you make across the pencil liner helps to set the pencil so that it won't move. The subsequent passes can be used to buff the hard line of the liner and give you a more smudgy, lived in look.
