I am so excited about the Mugler Autumn/Winter 2013
collection from Paris Fashion Week.
"My mother was an air hostess, so to me that always inspired glamor" said designer Nicola Formichetti,
backstage at the show, which took place in an airport hangar.

To the sound of soaring planes models hit the runway
in dove grey geometrical hostess outfits, resplendent
with oversized shoulders and primitive pilot hats.

Formichetti has softened the dominatrix edge to the Mugler label,
while maintaining its architectural design roots.
In this his second year at the brand Formichetti
used low slung waists from the 90's, tea dresses from the 40's and sexy car jackets from the 50's, blending signature moments from the decades with his own modern vision.

The Mugler woman has to remain a little restrained,
so puffy hips cut down to tight hemlines
restricting the models' gait,
necks were stiff from high funneled necklines
giving the girls a slightly geisha-esque walk.
Although they looked held back as if in a Hitchcock movie,
the underlying Mugler sex appeal permeated every seam.
I especially loved the orange sorbet.
