Toni Garrn by Camilla Akrans for Numero #130

I absolutely love Camilla Akrans work.
I love the way she sees color.
The relationship she creates between her color and her light
is stunning.

She can make anything not just interesting,
but completely captivating.

In Numero # 130 she casts Toni Garrn as a sea siren,
and explores the silhouettes of the new season's shimmering looks
in designs from Chanel, Elie Saab, Dior and Giorgio Armani,
as styled by Franck Benhamou.

Hair by Rutger and flawless, seamless makeup by Wendy Rowe.

How To Look Thinner By The Weekend

Got a party this weekend that you need to look svelte for?

If you need to do a quick trimdown,
here are 10 effective tips
used by models and actresses
when they need to get event or red carpet ready.

How To Look Thinner By The Weekend

1. Lose the carbs and the dairy.
Complex carbs and dairy cause the body to retain water, and bloat.
Removing all of the "whites" (anything made with or including flour, sugar, rice, pasta, potatoes) will give you visible results within days.

2. Plan Meals Carefully
Load up on high water content vegetables including celery, cucumber, asparagus, and leafy greens.
Apple cider vinegar and lemon juice make great low cal, fat free, fat burning dressings.
Stick to very lean proteins such as white fish and chicken.
Snack on raw, unsalted almonds.
When getting red carpet ready actresses account for every bite of food. It takes a huge effort to look that lean.

3. Avoid Sugar Free Chewing Gum
The artificial sweeteners in gum can't be digested, and make you retain fluids. There is also theory that you fill up with air and get gassy. Who knows if its true or not, but why take the risk?
4. Drink Water.
Flush your body out with as much water as you can.
Avoid caffeinated beverages, carbonated beverages, juices and alcohol.
Sodas and diet sodas will bloat you and make you more thirsty, so stick to plain, still water.
Water too boring for you? Enhance it with drops of flavored Stevia to make it more palatable

5. Use Caffeine Topically.
Body lotions and facial moisturizers containing caffeine have been shown to reduce puffiness. Caffeine can be absorbed through the skin, and act as a mild diuretic.

6.Run
Every Hollywood actress I have ever worked with has been an avid runner. Running is my idea of hell, but to those who need to look lean, it is an essential part of the overall equation.

7. Book A Massage
I skip number 6 and double up on number 7!
A good massage can help flush out fluids. And if it doesn't, at least it feels good!

8. Book An Airbrush Tan.
We all look better with a tan.
Stay away from the cancer beds, and instead opt for an airbrush tan. A good airbrush tanner will be able to spray a little definition onto your arms, torso and legs, making you look instantly thinner.

 9. Work Your Bones.
Employ a few makeup tricks (or a makeup artist) to highlight and cut your cheekbones, give you an Evangelista jawline, define your shoulders, and collar bones.
Run a shimmery highlighter up your shins and down your arms.

10. Wear Support Undergarments.
There's nothing quite like a sturdy pair of industrial strength power pants to hold you in in all the right places.
And don't be fooled into thinking support wear is just for the curvy girls - even the thin, perfect bodied girls use a little support under those fabulous dresses.

Almost every red carpet event I have ever worked has involved an actress in some pretty spectacular underground support ensembles.
Support wear serves a double purpose too - it is generally so uncomfortable and restricting that you can't relax into poor posture while wearing it - it forces you to keep your shoulders back, hips squared, torso lifted.
And good posture always makes you look thinner!

Cafe Society, Harpers Bazaar March 2012

I'm loving this 1920's resurgence
we're having right now.

Personally, I blame "Midnight In Paris"
for getting it all going again.

Karl Lagerfeld shot this black and white editorial for
US Harpers Bazaar, March 2012 issue.

Simple, elegant and refined
it makes you want to slip on a bias cut dress
and shimmy.

Tips To Stay Sparkly
It's been cray around the household lately. Not including the usual Society Social business and this past month of misery (okay, I exaggerate), Alan and I have 3 days to find a new home or we'll be out on the street. Okay, I exaggerate, again. There are hotels. Regardless, long story! In high stress times, I find it's the little things that can help pull you through.
A bouquet of fresh flowers...

A retail update, even if it is just a little window shopping to inspire a daydream...

Pampering! Do it.

A carefully, bright-fully prepared meal.

And above all, a little daily ridiculous to keep things sparkly! :)
How do you maintain your sparkle? Would love to know, darlings?

The Virgin Spring, Vogue Japan, March 2012

The March 2012 issue of Vogue Japan is killing me!!
Totally amazing editorials.

was beyond spectacular.

This story,
The Virgin Spring,
photographed by Solve Sundsbo
is a stark contrast to the Matador
but is also completely brilliant.

Styled by George Cortina
and featuring models Saskia de Brauw and Kinga Rajzak
it is an otherworldly look at spring 2012 fashions in white.

Showcasing designs by Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Chanel and Givenchy
it is both haunting and ethereal.

Bianca Balti Vogue Japan March 2012

Can't say I own one,
but
you gotta love a good matador outfit.

And I do mean a good matador outfit.

Not a quickly thrown together imitation,
or something too wannabe Spanishy,
but something a little more hardcore.

Stylist Anna Della Russo is known
for her bold intensity.

Her personal style is uber chic and exciting,
and with it she creates magic in her work.

Once described by Helmut Newton as a "fashion maniac"
Della Russo is now an editor at large for Vogue Japan.

In the Vogue Japan March 2012 issue
she has styled model Bianca Balti
as the high fashion matador.

Ornate, lush, intricate pieces
that look heavy to wear.
Cool jewels and boat loads of attitude.
