Rihanna's New Fragrance, Reb'l Fleur

Rihanna images

She's known for her glamorous, audacious, fashion-forward style, and now Rihanna will launch her first fragrance in Spring 2011.
“I believe a woman should dare to be different - willing to live her life for herself and not for other people,” Rihanna explains. “This fragrance is about my passion for individuality - being expressive and empowering, yes, but also emotional and intriguing. I promise you Reb’l Fleur will not be easily forgotten.”

Fred Purches, Chairman and CEO of Parlux Fragrances, Inc. remarks: “Rihanna is a compelling modern figure in today’s popular music scene. She is strong and iconic while still being sexy and appealing. Reb’l Fleur will express her vibrant personality with a bold, luxurious harmony. This will be a fragrance that is timeless in its sensuality but youthful in its upbeat contemporary appeal.

Daring, sexy and truly memorable, Reb’l Fleur is as much in tune with Barbados-born Rihanna’s roots as it is with the glamour of her present life in New York City. Created by internationally renowned perfumers, Caroline Sabas and Marypierre Julien, this fruity chypre is joyous yet intense, sophisticated yet marvelously surprising. Plump, delicious fruits, red berries, purple plums and juicy, ripe peaches, make a delicious first impression. Then the heart opens intosumptuous florals, a passionate melody of Hawaiian Hibiscus flower, violet, tuberose and coconut water.
Defiantly sexy, the base notes linger, a beguiling, sensual mélange. Vanilla, patchouli, amber and musk become a sultry chorus striking an unforgettable, emotional chord.

THE REB’L FLEUR BOTTLE
The bottle is inspired by the shape of a stiletto heel - a favorite shoe option for Rihanna. Made feminine with a twisting matte black “ribbon” layered over precious metal, the fragrance appears to glow from within, suffused with a glorious golden aura.

Even more interesting is Rihanna's  video for the track S&M. Have you seen it yet??
Na na na na Come on!!

Anne Hathaway Oscars 2011 Dress Changes

pregnant and gorgeous, Rachel Zoe at the Oscars 2011

The fabulous Rachel Zoe once again showed the world why she is one of the most coveted stylists to strut the planet when she styled Anne Hathaway's spectacular Oscar wardrobe for the 2011 Academy Awards.

There were a total of 8 different haute couture changes, 7 spectacular dresses and 1 sensational Lanvin tuxedo.

Hathaway hit the red carpet not only wearing vintage Valentino, but on the arm of the designer himself. Not a bad way to make a jaw dropping entrance!

Next she slipped into a strapless cream Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown to open the show.
Anne's third look was a custom tuxedo by Lanvin.
Her high pony tail and sky high heels made the outfit stunningly feminine.

The forth look for the evening was a princess style Vivienne Westwood corseted gown.
The fifth wardrobe change was one of my favorites. An Oscar de la Renta silver tassled gown, which she shimmied away in, paired with Jimmy Choos
(Oscar, tassles, shimmying and Jimmys, all in one sentence. Sounds like heaven to me!)
Change number six was an Atelier Versace burgundy silk gown with a structured art deco inspired bodice.
Number seven was a sapphire satin Giorgio Armani Prive column dress. Its shiny accents were mesmerizing on camera.
Her final dress for the evening was a Tom Ford smoky grey lace and crystal  gown. I love Tom Ford.
You can't talk about Anne Hathaway's exquisite wardrobe without mentioning arguably the hardest working man of the night, her hairdresser, Frederic Fekkai's Adir Abergel.
He should be given his own golden boy statue for excellence in hair!
Each of Anne's costume changes was accompanied by a truly fabulous hairstyle change, each of which looked amazing.
Throughout the evening each change left her hair looking glossy, shiny and full. Completely fabulous!
Anne went to the Vanity Fair party with loose tossled waves and the Atelier Versace gown.

Which of Anne Hathaway's outfits was your favorite? What about her hairstyles? Did you have a favorite? Mine was either the high pony or the shimmy dress loose waves hairdo :)

Oscars 2011 Red Carpet

My favorite, favorite event of the year!!
This year we saw some completely fabulous red carpet moments at the 2011 Academy Awards.
Here are a few of my absolute faves :

Best Actress winner the very lovely and very pregnant Natalie Portman in Rodarte

Jennifer Lawrence looked fresh, modern and sexy in a fire engine red Calvin Klein Collection

Helen Mirren gorgeous as always

Most gorgeous couple Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz (in L'Wren Scott)

Hilary Swank in Gucci

Jennifer Hudson made Weight Watchers the ultimate winner of the night by looking like a million dollars in bright tangerine halter neck Atelier Versace

Mila Kunis in a plunging lavender lace Elie Saab Haute Couture gown.
The anorexic back lady behind her should have either eaten a plate of pancakes dripped in syrup, or covered her back.
Why do people think that's attractive???

Michelle Williams was a study in simple perfection, in a short sleeved, beaded Chanel Haute Couture

Cate Blanchett always at the very forefront of fashion,
this time in Givenchy Haute Couture.
Her hair and makeup were completely lovely too

Scarlett Johansson, spectacular in a deep burgundy custom lace Dolce &Gabbana

Best hair had to be Reese Witherspoon, wearing a high pony, which completely out shone her Giorgio Armani Prive dress

My Beautiful Hometown

I have been so lucky to grow up in arguably one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Known as the Garden City, Christchurch New Zealand has the  majestic combination of rugged mountains meeting the white caps of the ocean, with the beautiful Avon river meandering through its heart. Parks, centuries old trees, gardens, stately old homes and gothic styled buildings, more than 100 years old make this city visually spectacular.

At the heart of the city the Anglican cathedral proudly overlooks Cathedral Square, and the entire city flows out in all directions from this point.

Christchurch itself is a celebration of the great outdoors.

Not just a place, it is a lifestyle. Cosmopolitan and international, a beautiful place to visit, a wonderful place to live.

On Tuesday February 22nd 2011 (local time) my beautiful hometown was struck by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. Centered approximately 3 miles from the heart of town, and at an incredibly shallow depth of only 2.5 miles, it has been devastating. Structures that have withstood many earthquakes over the years didn't stand a chance.

As I am writing this the reports are 75 dead, with hundreds still missing.
I hope the media outlets have it wrong. I hope and pray that the search and rescue teams keep pulling live bodies from the carnage.
The CTV building.

The Pine Gould building

At some point in time the earth will stop trembling and the city will rebuild, the way cities do. It may not look the same, but it will still be a beautiful city, and it will rise back up.
But families will never get their loved ones back.
I can't sit here and write anything funny today. I can't talk about fashion or skin care or makeup.
My heart is with the people of Christchurch.
