Purrfect Red Lips!

Lots of girls are intimidated by red lipstick.
Typically it has a texture that is either too slippery or too dry, and it is very hard to get the exact right color.
Either it is too blue, turns too orangey or pinky,
is too bold, too dark - too something!
Movie makeup artist Julie Hewett was having the same trouble as girls like you and me when she was trying to find the perfect red for Kate Beckinsdale
for the movie Pearl Harbor.
(so you and I are not alone here!)

Being a major movie makeup artist,
she just went ahead and made her own.
But she made it color perfect. And texture perfect.
Not too dry, not too moist.
She made a formula that would glide on to the lip,
not bubble or crack.
And because it was for a movie,
and would be up on a 40 foot screen she made it wear well and last beautifully.

And every fashion editor from every magazine wanted it.
Craved it.Had to have it.
So the makeup line was born.
And it is spectacular.

The Julie Hewett Noir series are the reds I use in my kit.

Anyway,
it appears some of you are a little scared of using reds.
I get many questions from readers asking me how to apply red lipstick just right.
Hmmm.

So I decided to make you a little movie
on how to do the perfect red lip.

There are tons of tutorials out there on how to do the perfect red lip.
Most of them have a complex series of hoops for a girl to jump through.
Conceal this, powder that, stand on your head...

It doesn't have to be that difficult!
Especially if you're using the right products.
Come have a look:

The only products used are:
lip balm during the makeup application. (then removed pre-lipstick)
Julie Hewett Rouge Noir Lipliner
Julie Hewett Rouge Noir lipstick
CorinnaB lipbrush.

Julie has several reds to choose from and a very simple guide to help you choose the one that is right for you.

Kim-So-Stunning

Ooooh!! The total hotness of it!!

Check out this gorgeous pic of
fabulous Kim Kardashian
advertising her new fragrance.

LOVE the makeup

Crazy love the outfit!

How much fun would it be
to dress up like that,
and spend your day twirling around on a metal hoop
just being fabulous??
I would love it!

And with an ad that looks this cool
who even cares what the fragrance smells like?
I will make the effort
to check it out
next time I'm at Sephora.

Meanwhile
I gotta go find a hoop and a feather bolero...

NHRA Nascar Nascar NHRA

Now you know I'm always telling you that NHRA Drag races are super cool.
Well this past weekend was one of the really big, really important
races for the NHRA season.
The first east coast outing for the year,
in Gainsville Florida
The Gatornationals.

And it just so happened that Nascar had the weekend off.
So some of the Nascar drivers headed down to Florida to enjoy the loud & proud
bone shaking, thundering roar of the nitro cars.
(and the pro-stocks, and the bikes...)
Scott Speed, Kurt Busch and Michael Waltrip
all made the return trip
to the NHRA action.

You just know there was all kinds of crazy fun going on here!!
Castrol's high energy and hilarious John Force facing off with Napa-know-how's funny men Michael Waltrip and Ron Capps.

So anyway, that brings me to the subject of the incredibly fabulous, totally hot

5 Steps To Getting Glam For Spring

So today I thought it might be fun
to start working on our new, fresh looks for spring.

Five quick steps to fabulous.

Here we go...

Numero Uno: The Enzyme Mask.

I swear by Rhonda Allison's Cherry Jubilee Enzyme mask.
The cold and windy winter the country is (finally) peeking out from behind
has left many a gal's complexion looking a tad beat up, weathered and dull.
I'm not a fan of scrubs.
I prefer enzyme masks to exfoliate.
This gem exfoliates and soothes, firms, tones
and hydrates.Leaves you with beautiful glowing skin.

Check the website for a location near you
www.RhondaAllison.com

Next up: Perfectly lovely foundation

Time for a new foundation.
One that will enhance the natural fresh radiance of your skin.
Or if you're not looking so fresh & radiant,
will create that illusion for you.
I told you last week about FACE Atelier's amazing Ultra Foundation.
It is youth in a bottle.
It is glorious beautiful skin in a bottle.
Its magic.
Use a small amount of this highly pigmented, silicone based love potion
and your skin will look the best it ever has,
all day long.

Number Three: Fun, fresh, spring eyes

from the ever brilliant, ever innovative Julie Hewett
we have a fabulous new spring palette.
And it is very cleverly called
Spring Palette.

And here's how you use it.
From the top right use Silk to highlight above the crease and through to the brow.
Bottom left, Malachite cream along the lash-line and up over the lower lid,
then sweep Zen shadow (top left) over the lid, blending inwards.
For more definition, or for a slightly deeper look, apply more Malachite
through the crease and outer corner.
Line with Julie Hewett Patina liner.

Step Four: Soft, beautiful cheek

The bottom right corner of the Julie Hewett Spring Palette is
a delicious coral blush.
Its sweet, fresh and very very flattering.

FinallyFive: Peachy Kisses

Finish your spring look with a fresh peachy gloss.
I'm loving Armani Lip Shimmer Lip Gloss
in Peach.

and the perfect accessory for getting glam for spring?
A new Kate Spade handbag in delicious quilted patent lemon.
Love.
Want.
Need.

Lets FACE it - I'm In Looove!!

So let's just FACE it here,
I am in love.
Not just a sweet mellow little love,
but a full blown wild & crazy kinda love!!

And its with a product line that just keeps on packing the punches,
and delivering the goods
over and over.

Its FACE Atelier.
And you need these products,
just like I do.
Because I don't only use them in my pro kit,
I wear them everyday.

I first heard about this line because some of the biggest makeup artists in the world
were crawling through broken glass to get their hands on their products.
Endorsement enough for me!

FACE Atelier was the officialmakeup sponsor for Madonna's "Confessions" Tour.
And you know Madge,
she never settles for anything less than the best.
And frankly,
neither should you and I.

Anyway
my whole love thing began with the Ultra Foundation.

It comes in sets for pro makeup artists

...or regular folk can buy it in individual bottles.

This divine silicone based foundation is literally like liquid silk on the skin.
Loaded with color pigment, the color stays true all day (and all night)
It doesn't crease or flake,
and it minimizes all the not so glorious things like fine lines & wrinkles and pores.
It stands up to the weather, whether its hot or cold, wet or dry out.
And frankly, leaves your skin looking healthy, alive and glowing.

No wonder makeup artists swear by it.
I love it.

Another product with a cult like following is their lip glaze.
It comes in 10 fabulous shades,
and is really highly pigmented,
which means beautiful, even color,
and long lasting wear.

I wear it myself (in Cameo and Dianthus this week)
and have used it on every shoot and commercial for the past few weeks.
You have to check them out!

To find a FACE Atelier retailer near you go to their web site
www.faceatelier.com
or you can order online.

As Face Atelier would say: Because Looking Good Is The Best Revenge!

Love it!

Best Makeup Oscars 2010

There were two very distinct looks on this year's Oscars Red Carpet.

Lets check them out.

Sandra Bullock was striking and exquisite
in homage to old Hollywood
created by makeup artist Angela Levin, using Chanel.

The base she used was Vitalumier, eyes in the limited edition Les Regards palette
and those stunning lips in Chanel Rouge Coco lip color in Paris.
I loved the structured brow offsetting a simpler, less dramatic e
ye.
Levin tied the look together with one of her signature tricks,
using a dab of the lip color on the cheek.

Charlize Theron and Cameron Diaz were both staggeringly beautiful in this look.

The other big look for the night was very neutral toned,
yet stunning and elegent.

Most of the girls wore variations on this.

Nothing new - but a good lesson here.
Scaled back, beautiful makeup sets off the facial features,
and compliments the dress like no other.

I love Jennifer Lopez, and her innate sense of style.

Makeup artist Matthew Vanleeuween created her look using products from Nars.
He wanted an "ethereal, movie star look", and totally achieved it!

He used:
Orgasm Illuminator, to lift the cheekbones, then rounded them out by pairing Enchanted Cream Blush (new for summer 2010) and Desire Blush.
On the eyes he used D Gorgeous single eyeshadow and Brousse duo eyeshadow,
and lashes galore.
He finished the look off with Cruising lipstick and Sweet Dreams lipgloss.
All products by Nars.

Other who were just stunning in this paired down yet sensational look include
Demi Moore, Kate Winslet, Rachel McAdams, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Miley Cyrus.
Each in their own variation on the theme, each in their own color palette, but each just looking divine.

I have to add this one in too.
Because she is one of my absolute favorites.
And she looked so gorgeous and fun.
And I completely LOVE her hair.
Christina Hendricks at Elton John's after-party.

Divine.

...And The Oscar Goes To...

My favorite night of the year!
I sooo love Oscar night.
For many years I worked the Academy Awards.
Beyond fabulous, beyond fun!

Anyway, lets have a look at the best from last nights red carpet.

First up, hottest piece of man-beast on the carpet

The ever gorgeous, studly, never available to the ladies
Tom Ford.
Could look at him forever...

And the ladies.
What a fantastic year for Oscar fashion!!

I love Marchesa
I love Sandra Bullock
I love makeup artist Angela Levin.
Perfection.

Jennifer Lopez was completely stunning in Armani Prive.
She absolutely knows how to have the world talking about her
the morning after red carpet events.
I love her.

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy.
The color!
Love it!

Helen Mirren
perfection in Badgley Mischka

I loved Miley's dress by Jenny Packham.
Up close her makeup was fab fab fab.

I absolutely loved Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel Couture.
The dress was stunning.
The makeup was divine.
The hair - maybe a little too big?
The gray flyaways all through the front should have been slicked down.

Elizabeth Banks in Versace.
Fabulous.

Demi was sensational in Versace.
Her hair and makeup - totally gorgeous.

Kate Winslet, streamlined and elegent in Yves Saint Laurent.
Again, hair and makeup perfection.

Charlize caused bit of a stir in this John Galliano
I loved the colors, loved the concept,
frankly - loved it.
Her makeup was superb.

I have never seen Cameron Diaz look more beautiful, more refined, more breathtaking
more perfect.

I love in in this Oscar de la Renta. Stunning.

Best accessory?
The devoted Jesse James.
What a great guy!
Sandy wins on every front.
