Hola NYC!!

Back when I was doing runway shows things were pretty different.
The lead makeup artist created the look using products he or she loved and used.
Now it is mostly paid for by MAC.
Ho hum.
Not as much fun.

Anyhoo, along with one of my best friends,
Nashville Makeup Artist Lisa Johnson,
I've been watching the makeup at fashion week in NYC.
And here is some of what we're seeing:

Getty images

At Nicole Miller the concept was Bright Lights, Big City - the woman who wants to conquer the urban Jungle.
Makeup Artist Tom Pecheux decided to do a smudgy, somewhat greasy looking eye.
Pretty cool really.
He used MAC gray lip gloss in Meow, and applied it to the entire eyelid up to the brow, then smoldered in MAC Smolder eye pencil along the lids and crease as well as the lashline.
He then smudged MAC Fearless lipstick under the lashline as a liner.

Although fierce on the runway, the greasy lip products would no doubt be tricky to wear at street level, but its easy enough to copy this cool look with shadows.

At Nicole Miller MAC Makeup artist James Kaliardos went for a look that was hazy, sweet and really beautiful.
He did a gray smoky eye, rosy cheeks, and a stained mouth (using MAC lipstick in Plum Dandy)

This pretty look will be huge for fall/winter, and will look fabulous on most.

Woo hoo! Love this one!
Diane Von Furstenburg.
MAC Makeup Artist James Kaliardos did this one too.
Mac black cream shadow with blue and green powder shadows over top and some sparkle in the inner corner.

Pucker It Up Lip-o-licious!

Soooo.
Valentines Day is just around the corner.
Round about now would be a super good time to figure out what your kisser will be dressed in
on the big day. Or Night.

I've just done about a billion jobs featuring hot reds.
I'm a little bit over the red thing for this weekend.
So I'm thinking more of softer, more kissable colors.

Here's what I'm lovin

Chanel Glossimer lipglosses.
They have enough color to be endlessly fabulous.
They're smooth and they have some sparkle, adult style.
This weekend I'm feeling it in Equinoxe, a deeper more sultry color,
and in Sundress, a soft pinky tone.
Kissable.

Nars lipglosses.
I use them in my kit endlessly.
Bilitis. Of course he saw that movie!

Positano. Love the town, love the lip color.

La Dolce Vita. Glorious on all skin tones.

Mr Nars also makes the beautiful Sabrina lip balm.
It smells like melon, has SPF20, and is a subtle pink shimmer.
Lovely if you're into keeping it sheer and sweet.

OCC Lip Tar.
I devoted a blog post to it once before.
And I say devoted, because pro makeup artists have a crazy kind of love for this
truly amazing lip product.
It never looks or feels heavy.
It goes on like a lipstick, with the ease of a gloss,
slick and moist,
then dries to a satin finish.
And is packed with color pigment.
Packed!

I adore it in Hush.
An antique bridal pink.
Gorgeous.

My last choice for Valentino's Day?

Dior Beige Silk.

Beautiful, classic, lovely.
Definitely smooch worthy.

Enjoy lovies!

Accentuate Your Eye Color

I thought this was kinda fun!

I found it on SheKnows.com Beauty section.
Which is always worth having a look at.
You'll even see me on there sometimes.
Giving makeup tips etc.
Anyway, the video I was going to post for you today is having trouble loading.
Which left me a tad unprepared.

So, here's a little something that I didn't write...

Beauty tips to accentuate your eye color

For your eyes only
Crystal Patriarche

Forget about pouty lips and rosy cheeks.
The eyes are the windows to the soul,
so you want yours to shine brightly.
Regardless if you're a blue-eyed beauty
or a brown-eyed cutie
or if your eyes are green with envy.
We have some great tips
to accentuate the color of your eyes in a snap.

Know your true colors

The easiest way to make your eyes stand out
is to use complimentary shades of eyeshadow
that work best with your specific eye color.

It may come as a surprise,
But you should not wear the same color eyeshadow
as your eye color.

Here are some general guidelines:

For brown eyes, try pale greens or blues.
This brings out the warm tones in your eyes
and makes them look richer.

Use darker jewel tones, like plum
for a smoky and sultry look.

For green eyes, use pink tones
and reddish-berry shades for daytime wear
and shimmering bronze and ruby shades
for evening.
The contrast of the reddish shades against
the green of your eyes will make the color
of your eyes sparkle.

For blue eyes, try peach and orange shades for daywear,
and copper and burnt orange shades for
evening shimmer.

These complimentary shades will make the blue of your eyes radiant.
Just remember that since everyone's eye color is different,
you'll want to shop where you can try out a few different shades of colors
in the same families, for a perfect match for you.

For green eyes, CHOOSE THESE COLOR COMBOS:

Gold, bronze, copper
Brown, chocolate, mustard yellow

Peach, beige, Champagne, taupe, apricot
Plum, mauve, purple, violet, pink
Deep and mossy green shades

For blue eyes, choose THESE COLOR COMBOS:

Pink, rose, violet, lavender
Gray, silver, copper
Dark blue, light blue, turquoise
Charcoal, black, brown

For brown eyes, choose THESE COLOR COMBOS:

Brown, beige, tan
Gray, charcoal
Khaki, olive green, mocha
Bronze, gold
Violet, lavender, blue

SuperSonic Skin Care Looove!!!

I forgot to ask you if you got anything good for Christmas???
I did.
Santa gave me some lovin
via the amazing Clarisonic Plus Limited Edition.

I've been wanting a Clarisonic for ages.

Movie stars swear by Clarisonic
Models swear by Clarisonic
Cosmetic surgeons and Dermatologists swear by Clarisonic

And now, so do I!

Clarisonic was created by the same people who made the Sonicare toothbrush,
and it works along the same lines.
Except that the brush head was specifically designed to be used on the skin.
And more specifically the delicate skin on the face.

The gentle sonic vibrations rotate at 300 movements per second,
cleaning deeply, clearing pores and removing six times more makeup than regular cleansing.
Rough patches get evened out,
dead, dry skin gets lifted away,
blemishes clear up and go away,
oily areas get reduced,
and you are left with clear, gleaming, radiant, beautiful skin.

It also works on the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Its amazing!

We just shot 10 new makeup tutorial videos, after I'd been using my Clarisonic Plus for 5 weeks.
You can see the difference in my skin.
(check out the Valentine's Day Makeup video series and see for yourself!)

I am sooo hooked!

One of the special features of the Clarisonic Plus model, is an extra brush head that you can change out and use on the body.
You can spot treat areas like decollete, elbows, hands, arms, knees.
Smooth it all!
The set comes with cleansing products too.

Some of the aesthetics schools,
such as the SouthWest Institute Of Natural Aesthetics in Tempe, Arizona
actually have Clarisonic training as part of their curriculum.
That's how important this product is.
Its revolutionary in the world of skin care.

Love!

The Limited Edition (like mine) comes in a classic rose and lilac paisley print.
50% of the profits from the Limited EditionClarisonic go to
the Susan G Komen Foundation to help us win the fight against cancer.
So you're saving your face and saving your boobies.

The Limited Edition Clarisonic is available exclusively online at
www.Clarisonic.com

New year, new decade, new you - you need a Clarisonic Plus.
Your skin will love you for it.
