Update Your Look For November

Its easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes to your look.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, what better time to infuse a little something new into your makeup routine?

So lets check out a couple of cool tips for November.

First up, add a little berry toned eyeshadow.
I have been using and loving to pieces the Reign Collection from Smashbox.

The soft velvety pink and the deep berry of the Majesty palette are perfect tones for most skins. They add a warmth and dimension to the eye, and if you have blue or green eyes, you will really see that color come to life and look super vibrant!

Another great way to soften up the eye is to step away from the traditional liner concept, and do a soft earthy smudge instead.

Using the Monarchy palette from Smashbox and a smudger brush like the CorinnaB smudger, get a small amount of the center circle of the dark brown, work it into the back of your hand, or a kleenex, then smudge through the lash lines. This will give you a much softer look.

Lastly, go for a softer brow. Instead of the harsher, more defined arch to the brow, let your eyebrow grow in a little, and have a slightly more natural look.

I'm going to put last week's video back up so you can get another look at how to pull this one off.

Have a gorgeous day!

Bringing Me Joy In November

Do you ever just stop and think about what brings you true joy?
What makes you smile, warms your heart or just makes you feel really, really good when you look at it?

I decided to invite you to my November, with a few things that truly bring me joy this month...

Starbucks Non Fat Cinnamon Dolce Latte.
Welcome back!
I love you in November...

Rhonda Allison Grape Seed Oil.
Every night I use this to keep my skin divinely hydrated.
The fountain of youth in a pump pack bottle.
Can't live without it!

My new Drag Strip Girl hoodie will be with me at every shoot.
I so love their clothes - cool designer cuts plus I love the logo. Even if you're not a race fan, their shirts and hoodies are edgy and cool.
There's only a limited number of these hoodies, so get in quick! www.DragStripGirlDesigns.com

I am obsessed with Julie Hewett Lip Lush in Tish.
Worn alone, over Bibo (pictured) or over any other lip color it gives the perfect golden sheen.
Golden lip gloss? Endless hours of happiness!

November sunsets over my lake are so beautiful! They fly by me too quickly. They begin by turning the palm trees gold and green

They wait a mere moment...

then plunge the mountains into a crazy cool, fabulous purple that I wish I could breathe in...
And then it's night.

Chris Cornell's acoustic cover of Led Zeppelin's Thank You.
I am playing it over and over.

And I give thanks.

Red things bring me November joy.
A handbag of red roses...
Soulful deep red candles burn throughout my home.
Tubereuse, such a deliciously deep, heady, sensual scent

All I want for Christmas, ALL I want, is this cat mask from Agent Provocateur.
What a life I could lead in that mask...

OK, so I want the boots too. I want them so bad it hurts!
And I don't want to wait for Christmas.
I want them in November...

And there are a million joyful secrets in my soul
for which
this lovely November
I give thanks

Monday Foot Love.

Dear Christian,
Honestly there are no words spectacular enough to describe how just looking at these boots makes me feel.
I would wear these everywhere.
I love you.
Love from C

Thank you Michael Kors.
I am sooo feeling it!
This sandal is perfection.
With a lean pencil skirt.
With a killer cool jean.
With half the fun dresses in my closet.
Were you thinking of me when you created this gorgeousness?
Regardless, I thank you.

The One And Only Posh

How crazy cool would it be to be Vicky B???

I was looking back through the Emporio Armani campaign from the summer, and started wondering what it must be like, to be Victoria Beckham.

If I were Posh, I too would spend my days leaning against walls in sleek undies, with this kind of killer hair and makeup.

So fierce and so fabulous!!!

Is she just hot or what???

I'm thinking I might start doing this every morning too...

Posh not only has the wardrobe to die for, neverending clothes and shoes and bags, constant travels, the luxe life, but she also gets to completely stretch the boundaries of extreme fabulous with this dude, David Beckham.

I wonder if their Sunday mornings look like this?

I'm thinking that rope wouldn't be too comfy to lounge around on...

Everyone I know who knows Victoria B says that shes hilarious and fun and awesome and cool.

And when she feels crappy and tired or if she's having a bad day, she still goes home to this:

The David.

Life can't be too bad for Vicky B, always Posh Spice to me.

Love her.

Wedding Makeup # 3 / Lovely Thanksgiving Make Up

This is the 3rd video in the Wedding Make up series shot on location at Studio5.

The lovely thing about this look is that you can wear it to almost anything. The colors are beautiful for fall and for Thanksgiving, and it is crazy easy to do.

You also get to see some of the silly-ness that goes on behind the scenes, and makes doing what we do so much fun! Remember the post where Will and I were crouched behind the model holding out the skirt of the dress and having fits of giggles? Well this is it on video.

Enjoy!

Lets Go Nitro!!!

Oh yeah!!! Just got back from having way too much fun at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals.

Two years ago I had never been to a race, and had exactly zero interest in going to one either. But then I booked some photo shoots with a few of the teams, shooting promo pieces and sponsor stuff, and after my first day at the track I was hooked.

Funny Car driver Tony Pedregon nailed it when he said that until you actually go to a race, you really don't get what its all about. I try to explain to people that you actually can feel the sound, but only those who've been, get what I'm saying.

Anyway, this past weekend was strategically very important for the teams, as it was the penultimate to the big daddy finals in Pomona California November 12 - 15.
It was a crucial weekend for those drivers and teams in the chase for the championship, and every round was tension filled (and wild and exciting!!!).

I was lucky enough to be there with some really fun friends. John Amorosano is known nation wide on twitter to NHRA fans as @NitroJohn. Every weekend he calls the plays, live, and the NHRA nation is able to keep up with the scores as its all happening.

NitroJohn and Jeni Amorosano - two of the most fun people I am lucky enough to know!

We were guests of Don Schumacher Racing (D.S.R), home to 7 of the most exciting teams.
I hadn't expected Don to be there greeting guests as we arrived. I was so impressed with his friendly and fun demeanor, and really thought him the most gracious host!

Don Schumacher - fabulous host, great guy.

My job for the day? Keep twitter updated

after each round we'd come back and I'd fill the twitter gang in on the goings on. I was also tweeting the races for NitroJohn, who was working the cameras.

We spent most of our non race time in the NAPA hospitality suite, and that's where one of my favorite Funny Car drivers, Ron Capps is.

Capps warming up the engine pre-race.

The Napa Autoparts Capps-mobile, post burnout, ready to tear it up at, oh, 300 mph!

He is such a character! If you follow my blog you'll know that I've posted a few of the hilarious NAPA commercials that Ron does with fellow NAPA sponsored racer, Nascar's Michael Waltrip.

D.S.R is also home to Funny Car drivers Matt Hagan, and Fast Jack Beckman, who made it to the finals on Sunday, and although he went 303 miles per hour with a 4.15 second run, was just edged out of the win By Robert Hight who went 304 miles per hour and got there in 4.12 seconds.

This is Jack Beckman. Really funny cat! I cheered so hard for him in the final, but evidently not hard enough, because Hight managed to slither by him. By .03 of a second

This is Jack's funny car doing his burn out. He and his main sponsor, MTS did this fab thing where we all got postcards to send messages to soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq. MTS is delivering them for free.
I wrote nice stuff, not my usual nonsense...

This is Matt Hagan. He rounds out the DSR Funny Car Team.

and this is the Hagan-wagon. Doesn't it look cool?

There are 3 Top Fuel Dragsters at D.S.R.
Tony Schumacher drives the US Army car, and is in the leader in the points.

Tony Schumacher in his US Army pit.

Tony's top fueller, during burnout.

Cory Mac drives the Fram car, and in fact, drove it all the way to the semi finals on Sunday.
I'm always cheering for Cory. He's on twitter @Cory_Mac_TF

it only looks like karaoke. Really its driver intro's in the Napa suite

Antron Brown raced motorbikes for DSR before heading off to drive a top fueller elsewhere, but as of this past week (or so) he and his Matco Tools Top Fuel dragster are at DSR

Here's Antron at the driver introductions

...and here's his ride. He swept the Western Swing this summer, which is crazy hard, crazy cool!

DSR also has Matt Smith, who rides motorbikes for them.

US Army hospitality suite

It was such a fantastic day, and I really do have to thank DSR for being such amazing hosts!

You can follow them on twitter @shoeracing

And, of course, I can't write about Ron Capps without posting yet another of his hilarious Napa commercials with Michael Waltrip.

Enjoy

I Love You Blogs And Coffee !

One of my favorite things to do is curl up with a steaming cup of coffee and read my favorite blogs. (see the Blogs I Love list below, right)

No matter what your interests are, there are blogs out there in internet-land just for you.
Sometimes I like to read other beauty and makeup blogs, sometimes travel blogs, sometimes artsy and whimsical, sometimes informative & helpful. I've even found blogs devoted to cooking and blogs for interior decorating. I can happily spend all day cruising through the blog-o-sphere.

The great thing is, there's just so much out there for everyone.

One of my absolute favorites is the beautiful MadeByGirl blog. It's always full of fabulous, fascinating and fresh ideas. Looove it!

I found this there too:

Isn't it cool? And it just sums it all up for me too! You can buy this lovely print on the MadeByGirl website as well as all kinds of gorgeous handmade cards, prints and lovely things.

Today I'm in the mood for soft and lovely, so my java and I bid you adieu and I'm off to read some lovely blogs.
