Fashion Week NYC, Spring Summer 2011

Here are some images from today's shows.

Richard Chai had his models looking like they had just emerged from a swim. Hair slicked back, fresh faced and smudgy eyed.
backstage at Richard Chai
Nicholas K was showing side braids and ponies, soft brows, muted eyes and a soft lip

Organic by John Patrick had a slightly more refined makeup look. We saw the hemlines coming down, and amongst other things, some wide net lace pants!

Predictions for Spring Summer 2011

So Fashion Week is about to start (today!)
and the good folks at SheKnowsTV
asked me to pop in and do a little predicting
as to what we might be seeing this next week
on the runways in New York.

I gave them 4 ideas:
1. Mad Men inspired early 60's style shift dresses
a la Jackie O

2. Wide weave lace.

3. Clogs.
Look for high heeled clogs like these ones from Chanel
4. Uplifting and energizing pastels in shades such as gladiola, daffodil, viola, and iris.

Lets see if I was right...

Fuschia Lips!

Fall can get so completely drab and boring, with its endless
khaki eyes, burnt oranges, and limitless variations on beige and brown.
Ho hum.

This season things are brightening up a little with the arrival of the matte fuschia lip.

Oddly enough, this looks flattering on everyone!
It's alive, its bright and its vibrant, breathing excitement into the grayest, rainy day.

A fuschia lip should be worn as its own signature statement. Pair it with a softer eye and a subtle pink cheek, or with this season's cat eye and a barely there brow

Some great fuschia options are:
Nars lipstick in Schiap
Makeup Forever lipstick in shade #36
Julie Hewett, Jacqueline
Shiseido lipstick RS 320
Dolce & Gabbana lipstick in Shocking
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid
MAC lipstick in Violetta

Dior's Minaudiere

I love it when all the holiday collections start coming out!

Dior has a new holiday set called Minaudiere.
This one features essential smoky eye shadows in
pewter, charcoal and champagne,
as well as two sparkly lip glosses,
one clear, one burgundy.
The packaging is fabulously reminiscent
of the early 20th century minaudiere,
a palm size oval mini-purse that fit in the
palm of your hand,
even down to the two mini ball clasp.

Lovely!

Clarins Instant Blush Magic Color

Here's a fabulous new product from Clarins,
Instant Blush Magic Color.
A cream gel, (my favorite type of blush!)
this blush has a great viscosity
so it slides on with ease.
Its a sheer buildable color, that you can layer into,
or just leave as a soft flush to the cheek.
Its a touch of rose that works with your body chemistry
to create the perfect tone for your skin.

It also picks up light, making your skin look radiant
and alive.

As a side bonus, its fabulous on the lips too!

Leaving No Lash Behind

Here's a really cool new mascara
thats launching this month (September)
from Avon.

Its called superMagnify Mascara.
This one is about making every lash count.
Its a clump free formula, designed to define
for stunningly full lashes.

Whats super cool is the revolutionary new brush
that includes an unprecedented
1000+ microbristles, which coat every lash
from corner to corner,
root to tip, for optimal fullness.
These microbristles grasp even the smallest
finest lash, delivering maximum definition
for voluminous eyes.

In fact there's a 5:1 bristles to lashes ratio,
creating 6X the lash volume and revealing 49% more lashes.

superMagnify comes in 3 shades:
black, brown, and my favorite to waken up tired eyes, navy.

Its also totally affordable at $8.50
