Attention Serial Bridesmaids!

Are you a Serial Bridesmaid?

In my years as a makeup artist I have met many, many
return bridesmaids.
Invariably they have hilarious stories of hideous dresses,
groping groomsmen, calamities they've either had to deal with or endure, travel to obscure locations - the list goes on...
image cleverly lifted from Twirltalk blog by me

So my friends at Twirl Boutique
(a tres chic atelier not only for the uber fashion conscious, beautifully dressed bridesmaid, but also for the well heeled girl about town who needs a new cocktail dress or a full length, red carpet worthy slice of heaven to bring the world to its knees in)
has launched a fun contest for the girls who have been
a bridesmaid multiple times.

Regardless of where you are you can enter, and win.
Here are the details:

Twirl is hosting a contest to try and find the QUEEN of serial bridesmaids! Twirl Boutique was created with “serial bridesmaids” in mind.  The owners in both Arizona and Kentucky have been bridesmaids themselves a combined TWENTY SEVEN times. This is one of the reasons why Twirl was born.  We wanted a fun place for maids to go to with tons of cute dress styles to choose from.
We are looking for women out there to tell us their personal stories and explain why they think they are the ultimate serial bridesmaid.   More specifically what sets them apart, other than just being a bridesmaid so many times?  Is it the money they have spent? The fabulous showers they have thrown? How great they are at putting out fires?  Or perhaps the destinations they have traveled to?  We are looking for honest, heartfelt and humorous stories.  You don’t have to be a talented writer to enter – just tell us your story!

lease submit your entries to the email addresses below. If you live in or can travel to Kentucky: ty@twirllexington.com
If you live in or can travel to Arizona:    angela@twirlboutique.com
We have three fabulous prizes to be won at each store!
Arizona:
1st Place: Up to $250.00 to spend on a dress  at Twirl Scottsdale.
2nd Place: 10% off wedding services for the entire bridal party at Dolce Salon &  Spa
3rd Place:  “Whateverz” spa set personalized with “serial bridesmaid”
Kentucky:
1st Place:  Up to $250.00 to spend on a dress at Twirl Lexington
2nd Place:  Gift Certificate to Cha Cha Salon
3rd Place:  A “B Jolly” clutch
The contest ends at midnight on July 31st.  Winners will be announced the week of August 16th along with the stories on our blog at www.twirlboutique.com/blog. Ladies, this is your chance to get recognized – we know you have earned it!

Eat, Pray, Love, Smell...

If you are one of the millions of women worldwide
who are living the countdown to
Eat Pray Love opening today,

chances are you have already been assaulted
with the endless sea of movie merchandise
accompanying this release.
If you want to smell like an Eat Pray Lover
Fresh has released a series of Eat Pray Love fragrances
and candles.

Eat is a sweet effervescent scent with top notes of Italian lemon and basil, balanced with
creamy tiramisu (?) Prosecco and Limoncello. (not so sure about smelling like tiramisu...)

Pray is more woodsy, with the sleepy scents of jasmine, pink pepper and patchouli,
amber, juniper berry, cardamom and incense.

Love is a sunny floral with tropical fruity undertones, designed to evoke the lush landscapes of Bali.

20 Ways To Look Younger

1. Three little words: wear less makeup!

2. Change up your lips instead of a full dark lipstick try a soft pink or rose gloss. Paler, shiny colors make lips look fuller

3. Use and enzyme mask fruit acids eat away that lifeless, dull layer on the surface of the skin, leaving you with a glowing, healthy, youthful complexion

4. Add highlights around your face highlights lift and brighten your skin and make you look younger

5. While you're at it, get bangs. Soft, side swept bangs soften the face and hide fine lines and wrinkles

6. Get rid of age spots. These days there are tons of options, from IPL/Laser treatments to chemical peels to good old color correcting with makeup. (spot treat with a pinkish toned corrector, then powder well to set it). Whichever method you choose - they have to go!

7. Brighten and whiten that smile! Over the counter whitening strips are the fast track to lovely white teeth and an unbeatable smile!

8. Get rid of the black eyeliner. Hideously harsh and unforgiving, black eyeliner draws attention to everything you want hidden. Opt instead for a gentle deep brown or a soft navy. Navy will brighten the whites of your eyes, which tend to yellow with age.

9. Warm up your makeup colors. Soft bronzes, warm deep burgundies (instead of blue 1berries) golden hued earth tones are more flattering to skin tone, and will give you a softer, lovelier visage.

10. Add a little highlighter to the inner corner of your eye. It will lighten and brighten, making you look more awake, more vivacious.

11. Curl your lashes. The more you can open your eye, the more youthful and vibrant you will look.

12. Get plenty of sleep. You may function on five hours, but studies show that those who regularly get eight hours sleep age drastically less rapidly than those getting fewer. Dark circles and bags under your eyes do you no favors either.

 13. Invest in a really good, nourishing and hydrating eye cream. The first signs of aging show up around our eyes. Keeping them nourished and hydrated helps keep the fine lines and wrinkles at bay.

 14. Smile! Smile a lot! Optimists look better as they age. A smiling face looks younger than an apathetic or frowning one.

15. Go silicone! Avoid "oil free" foundations like the plague. Nothing is more aging than a lifeless oil free foundation. Instead choose one of the fabulous new silicone based bases. Silicone particles are spherical, and bounce light off themselves, making skin look radiant, fresh and glowing.

16. Get a regular foot massage. For most of us that's the luxurious end to the twice monthly pedicure, but however you get it, embrace it! Soothe the sole and you'll soothe your soul.

17. Wear a handcream with SPF every single day. Aged hands don't match a youthful glowing face.

18. Wear a facial SPF every single day. Without fail.

19. Work your posture Shoulders back, chin up. A well carried body with a strong core looks so much younger!

20. Get your groove on. No kidding - studies show that women who are doing the wild thing at least three times per week look up to 10 years younger!!!

Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing, Rocking It In Dallas

This past weekend I went to Dallas to watch my good friend
Jennifer Jo Cobb racing at Texas Motor Speedway.

even in a helmet Jen manages to look gorgeous!

Jennifer races in the Nascar Camping World Truck Series.
She's the only girl racer in the entire Nascar series.
(Later this year Danica Patrick will be back in the Nascar Nationwide Series)
On the track you'd never know a girl was behind the wheel
but walking around she infuses an unmistakable sense of glamour.
She's gorgeous, has the body of a supermodel, and a mane of thick, long red hair
that you can spot a mile off.

As well as being super fabulous, she is super fun!
Her team adores her, and she comfortably and seamlessly transitions from
high heels and lip gloss to hanging out with the boys.

waiting to make her practice runs at Texas Motor Speedway.

pre practice, Denise Harmon Mixon (team manager and one of the most fun people I have ever known!), Jen and me

On raceday we had an hour long autograph session, outside, with the temperature over 100 degrees plus humidity.
There were long lines of dedicated fans braving the heat to get au tographs.
Nascar has 71 million fans here in the USA, 40% of whom are female.
These girls get super excited to see and meet a girl racer,
who is not only lovely looking, but is also very identifiable.
Jen has been a motivational speaker for years, and is able to put people at ease immediately.
Everyone comments on how easily they can relate to her, and she to them.

Just so happens the boys want to do some relating too!
Nothing quite like having a beautiful girl sign your arm...!

And of course, wherever Jen goes, the TV cameras are not far behind.
It seemed everywhere we went at the track there was a TV camera nearby.

After an hour in the heat I was so ready for some chill out time in the air conditioned race hauler,
but another legion of fans had lined up there too, waiting for the chance to meet her.
Not one to let people down, Jen sat out there for another hour, meeting and greeting.

At Driver Intro's the TV folks found her again,
this time waiting in line with fellow rookie Brett Butler,
who drives the Fuel Doctor USA truck.

This was a night race, which I think is my favorite.
I watched from the pit box, which is my favorite place to be.
Right in the heart of it all!

Pit stops are so exhilarating to watch, especially when they're only 3 feet away!

I sat with Crew Chief Steve Kuykendall, and listened in on radio to all the
crew chief/spotter/driver chat, which is actually really quite exciting!
Especially when they're guiding a driver through and past the smoke and debris of a big crash,
and safely getting them to the other side at 178 mph!!

oh the humidity!!! Thanks to Moroccan Oil I didn't have my usual damp air afro...

Jen actually ran her best race ever in Dallas, finishing a very cool 14th place.
There were 30 something in the race, so it could be argued that she dealt it to those boys!

And after 2 hours racing in punishing heat,
she still managed to look stunning at the end of the race!

If you're on Twitter you can follow Jen @jenjocobb
Steve is @CrewChiefSteve
and if you're not following me yet on twitter, please join me @Corinnamakeup

Jennifer has a really cool line of racewear both for guys and (of course!!) for girls.
You can find her T's, hats etc at the Driver Boutique

The 10 Most Fabulous Things This May

I haven't done a top 10 list for a while,
but here are the 10 most fabulous things
that I'm loving this month
1. Jantzen Vamp Swimsuit
How crazy hot is this?? This 50's inspired halter swimsuit is the epitome of aquatic chic.
It comes is black and java and hot pink, but this green caught my eye

2. The Maxi
How fabulous to have these gorgeous full length dresses back again.
Fun and floaty, paired with flats and a low pony, quite possibly the loveliest look of the season.

Jennifer Garner, Sienna Miller, Miley Cyrus, Mischa Barton, Rachel Bilson

3. Jantzen Coverup
I've never specifically been a Jantzen fan, but this season they have fabulous completely sewn up.

4. Mishka's Coastline Journey.
I first heard this one on No Shoes Radio

I had to download it immediately.
I so crave being at the ocean. But rather than walking in the sand, I a
m somewhat landlocked right now.
This song can take you on your own coastline journey.
You should download it too...

5. The Acapulco Cliff Hanger

While you're wearing your Vamp swimsuit, with or without coverup, or maybe you're in a maxi dress, listening to Mishka, you should probably have one of these in your hand too
Completes the picture.
6. Nobu Las Vegas
no words necessary Nobu-san

7. Atelier Cologne
The Orange Sanguine has Tonka Bean. Happy memories there.
The Blonds Bois has top notes of Tunisian Neroli and Pink Pepper, heart notes of Moroccan Orange Flower and incense, and beautiful base notes of blond w
oods, musks, and Haitian veviter.
Its my favorite.

Cologne with character

8. Ippolita Teardrop Earrings

I love them

9. Hot. Pink. Lips.

Say. No. More.

10. Hawaiian Tropic
Its that time of year. And it all starts with the smell of Hawaiian Tropic.
Thats where the best memories lie.
Not much SPF though...
