New York Fashion Week Update

Betsy Johnson Spring 2012

Nothing new here, but Betsy is always fun

Tory Burch Spring 2012
Tory Burch Spring 2012 was "a very Tory take on northern France".
The collection was easy to wear, unfussy and a little cutesy.

Jad Ghandour
Jad Ghandour Spring 2012
I loved this! Something new and exciting. Jad said his inspiration was safari, but it looked more modern, sexy cool than straight up safari. A tiger cub and a lion cub sat  in gilded cages and looked amused as models gowns blew by them.

I LOVE a fierce red dress!

Norman Ambrose Spring 2012

Norman Ambrose Spring 2012 was inspired by "sun glistening on the Mediterranean like a sea of diamonds".
Frankly, there are things on the Med that inspire me too...
Anyway, the collection was soft, shimmering, subtly feminine, and very beautiful.

Imitation of Christ Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week

There were some cool goings on behind the scenes at the Imitation of Christ Spring 2012 show last week.
Skyn Iceland, a skincare line based entirely on solutions for stressed skin, were on hand giving the models stress tests (anyone who has been around fashion week will tell you its a major stress bomb!)

Skyn Iceland products are an amazing remedy for stressed out skin. My pro kit, my bathroom cabinet and my travel bags are stocked with them.

So Loved the makeup at Imitation Of Christ Spring 2012.

Created by Gina Brooke, Artistic Director at Hourglass the look was clean, playful and beautiful to accommodate the super chic wedding party theme of the show.

Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week

Always one of my favorite shows, Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2012 was beautiful.
The collection was inspired by Africa with shades of orange, green and khaki with little touches of safari.

Mara Hoffman Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week

Mara Hoffman Spring 2012

Mara Hoffman Spring 2012 was all about Mexican Mamas. Neon hues, super statement jewels and tribal prints were brought to life by the exquisite makeup designed by Lottie Stannard, and hair by TIGI.

Luca Luca Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week

 Luca Luca Spring 2012 Collection

Inspired by a summer cruise on the Mediterranean, Raul Malgoza of Luca Luca showed a more relaxed silhouette than the structured look he is best known for.

Draping, exposed shoulders and bare backs lent a softer, prettier look for spring, accessorized with turbans, sent down the runway with a spectacular fucsia  lip, the collection was bright, vibrant and alive.

Isn't the lip fabulous??

Tadashi Shoji Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week

This has to be the quintessential spring collection.

Tadashi Shoji Spring 2012

Inspired by tulips, from hand painted silk linen to the ethereally draped lace and tulle, this collection was feminine, pretty, and whimsical.

Shoji said he was paying homage to "the enchanting beauty and splendor of the tulip"

Inspired by that particular flower because "it is full of life, incessantly changing and evolving in shape"

Lovely.

New York Fashion Week F/W 2011 Anna Sui

I love Anna Sui. Have done for years. And she just keeps getting better.

I also love Victoria Beckham. Even more so since she re-tweeted/posted my blog with the video of her show.
I quite literally fell off my chair when I saw it, and was a giddy, giggling wreck the rest of the day.And the blog got about a billion extra hits. (OK, that was a tad exaggerated)
But I digress...

At Anna Sui, 60s-mod makeup and big, retro hair complemented the Boho chic style of the Fall 2011 collection. Pat McGrath for CoverGirl traced a bold dark line into the crease of the eye and applied white eyeliner on the inner bottom lids for a wide-eye effect. Cheeks were flushed with a hint of color and lips were neutral and glossy. Garren for René Furterer amped up the volume or the hair, heightening the back of the crown for a retro look.

I just absolutely LOVE this look!
The 60's hair with that gorgeous shine on it is nothing short of fabulous, and its not difficult for the average girl to recreate either.
The makeup also translates really well to street level. Maybe just buffing out the crease line a little so that its not quite so severe, but everything else stays as is. Its divine. And incurably pretty.
