12 Vogue Covers Around The World June 2014

There was a little controversy with the June 2014 covers of Vogue magazine. Some thought that Vogue Espana's cover featuring Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo naked and with pubic stubble in view, posing behind girlfriend Irina Shayk was both inappropriate and redolent of the Kim Kardashion Kanye West cover that was bothersome to so many around the world. In it's defense at least Irina is an esteemed model, and Ronaldo is sporting some Vogue appropriate, fiercely manicured brows.

Vogue UK took some heat too with Kate Upton on the cover. Some media opined that it looked like Sports Illustrated, not Vogue.

Here's a look at what 12 Vogue magazines around the world have chosen for their covers for June 2014.

Kim and Kanye Vogue Cover

I'm at a loss for words.
Except for one word.
Why??

Anna Wintour decided to put Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
on the cover of the April 2014 issue of Vogue.
Perhaps the most coveted cover of them all,
generally respected as a definitive moment in a model's career,
or a well earned moment in an actress's or a musician's career.

And now a new goal for reality TV peeps.
I don't watch the Kardashians, so maybe I have missed something here.
I don't watch reality TV.
I don't know Kanye's music.
Apparently they are one of the most talked about couples in the world?
Annie Liebovitz shot it.

One thing I do know, is don't question Anna Wintour's thinking.

On the other hand,
Harpers Bazaar chose model Lara Stone
for their April 2014 cover.
I absolutely love it.

Vogue Paris saw fit to put sex bomb model
Cameron Russell on their April 2014 cover,
lensed by the one and only Mario Testino.

Christy Turlington for Vogue Paris

When my career was starting a lifetime ago in London,
there was a new breed of model changing the face of the industry.

At the top of the exquisite pile reigned the triumverate,
three spectacular girls who absolutely owned the modelling world,
Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington.

They were the highest earners, had the most covers,
ruled the catwalks - they were everything.

Later joined by Kate Moss, the triumverate were the most sensational models around.
They could sell you anything,
make you believe anything,
they were the best.

And to this day they are simply amazing.

The new Vogue Paris features a gorgeous editorial
with Christy Turlington.
In the fickle, youth-centric world of modelling,
age has not diminished her at all.

She is still magnificent.
