Rodarte A/W 2012 NYFW

Rodarte Autumn/Winter 2012
was a broad and diverse showing of
spectacular pieces.

Rodarte A/W 2012

From 40's influenced tailoring, shapely coats,
sheath dresses and pretty florals,
there was a solid concentration on daywear and separates,
with pieces that real girls can wear every day.
Rodarte A/W 2012

Rodarte A/W 2012

The slick sheath dresses were to die for.

This collection could well herald a strong business move for the Mulleavy sisters,
as they move to a clientele that needs more than just a party or event dress.
Love it.

Marc Jacobs F/W 2012 Puts The Fun Back Into Fashion!

How deliriously, madly quirky is this??

Marc Jacobs put the fun back into fashion
with his Fall/Winter 2012 RTW show.

More of a spectacular than a siren song to the buyers,
the 15 minute show featured crazy-huge hats
non-body-conscious shapes,
was anti-sexy, anti establishment,
and wickedly fun.

Individual pieces will mesh perfectly into the modern wardrobe,
with opulent fabrics in fun shades of vibrant
greens, lavenders, ochers, reds and pinks.
Some of the coats and jackets were spectacular.

A slightly Victorian feel  theatrically merged
with Dr Seuss-like sensibilities
set to "Who Will Buy" from Oliver!,
including a version by Nancy Sinatra.

Marc Jacobs. Brilliant. Again.

NYFW Fall/Winter 2012 Update

I'm way behind on New York Fashion Week posting
due to my crazy shoot schedule.
February is always a busy, busy month.

Anyway, here is a recap of some of NYFW

At Tommy Hilfiger there was a distinctly equestrian feel.

Behnaz Sarafpour worked both a feminine silhouette and a structured form

At Catherine Malandrino
some very sheer fabrics for fall

Always one of my favorites, Victoria Beckham celebrated an intensely
feminine form, long and lean with a nipped in waist.

At times with a slightly military feel,
with solid color blocking,
the collection was entirely wearable.

At red carpet favorite Carmen Marc Valvo
it was full on glamour,
intensely beautiful.
Hair was slicked back and complimented by
a full, smoky eye and a soft mouth.

NYFW Beauty Diane Von Furstenburg Fall/Winter 2012

Diane Von Furstenberg's Fall/Winter 2012 seductive, bold and daring collection appropriately titled "Rendezvous," called for deep smoky eyes, perfect nude skin, defined brows and a rose lip. To create a strong, confident and feminine look, the hair was shiny with a deep side part, tightly gathered in a low chignon.

Nars Makeup for Naeem Khan Spring 2012

This is lovely.
Makeup for Naeem Kahn Spring 2012

James Boehmer, Nars Director of Global Artistry designed this look for the Naeem Khan Spring 2012 show.

“I was very much inspired by Spain – its culture, its heritage and the colors and style,” said designer Naeem Kahn. “The woman I’m designing for is glamorous – but vibrant. She’s sexy and confident.”

THE LOOK: “The starting point for the makeup was the Ava Gardner inspired eyebrow. With the bold, graphic eye, but not-so-bold lip, the makeup is reminiscent of Ursula Andress,” said James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry. “I wanted to create contrasts between the eye and lip. The skin is very cool – there’s no warmth to it, and the eyes are a wash of metallic silver.”
Intensely duplicatible, a diva can get herself this look with the following products:

FACE
· Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer – new for Spring 2012; for now try a light application of Sheer Glow Foundation
· Dolce Vita Blush
EYES
· Black Moon Eyeliner Pencil
· Lhasa Single Eyeshadow – new for Spring 2012; for now try Ondine Single Eyeshadow
· Paris Duo Eyeshadow
· Larger Than Life Volumizing & Lengthening Mascaras
LIPS
· Fantasia Lip Liner Pencil
· Bilbao Lipstick – new for Spring 2012; for now, try Pago Pago Lipstick
· Gold Digger Larger Than Life Lip Gloss (available at Sephora)

I just received a big box of makeup from Nars for the ad campaign I'm shooting at the end of this week.
Frankly, I cannot wait! Love love love Nars!

Marc Jacobs Spring 2012, Calvin Klein Spring 2012, Anna Sui Spring 2012

Marc Jacobs Spring 2012

Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 - shiny, sheer fabrics, a color palette that ran metallics and pastels, interesting shapes and a modern twist on a 20's meets 60's vibe.
Love.

Calvin Klein Spring 2012

Calvin Klein Spring 2012 felt entirely predictable. Lovely, but nothing new or exciting.
I did like the metallic though

Anna Sui Spring 2012

Anna Sui Spring 2012 was all about wild prints and retro shapes. Inspired by fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez' 1970s move to Paris with fashion icons Jerry Hall and Grace Jones, the collection was crazy sexy retro cool, with a nod and a wink to Rita Hayworth's hair and makeup.
Red on red. Love!

Makeup artist Pat McGrath showed a red lip paired with red eyeshadow. Fabulous.
