Let It Glow, Let It Glow, Let It Glow! 3 Products For Luminous And Radiant Winter Skin

During fall and winter your skin tends to look a little flat and dull.
Bronzers typically look orangey and somewhat odd on winter complexions, and most highlighters look shimmery or glittery and make your winter skin look crazy.

On my speaking tour for Luca Magazine I talked about adding glow to your complexion, and I've had so many messages from ladies in my audience asking me to go back over the products I talked about.

I posted last week about the gel bronzer that I use every single day,
read about it here. Today lets look at the three products I swear by and use both myself and in my pro makeup kit to make the complexion glow:

3 Amazing Products For Luminous And Radiant Winter Skin

Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow

I'm crazy about this product! When I want an all over glow to the skin, not as a wet look, but a healthy gleam that looks like sunshine beaming out from within, I use Charlotte Tilbury's Wonderglow
It doubles up as a pre-makeup primer, or on days when I don't feel like wearing makeup I wear it alone.
Available online at CharlotteTilbury.com $55

Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Spotlight 700

I love this one for running highlight along cheekbones, collarbones and shoulders. Highlight shouldn't be sparkly, it should illuminate and radiate, and this product makes the skin luminous and glowy.
The stick form makes it easy to swipe it across the skin, but I prefer to use a duo fiber makeup brush. You can apply the Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Spotlight 700 either before foundation or after, (or both!), and can make it a subtle glow or ramp it up to a super sheen - you're in charge!
Available online at MarcJacobsBeauty.com $42

Radiance Glow Hydrating Starter

At  half the price of the others the Pony Effect Radiance Glow Hydrating Starter brightens and illuminates the skin, giving it a gorgeous glow while hydrating it and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. It also acts like a primer, smoothing the skin and readying it for foundation. You can wear it alone or under makeup.
This product sells out quickly. If you like it order a second one sooner rather than later.
Available online at Memebox.com $21

Marc Jacobs Final Show For Louis Vuitton, Spring 2014 Paris Fashion Week

'This collection is dedicated to the women who inspire me and to the showgirl in all of us'

said Marc Jacobs of his final show for
international super-brand Louis Vuitton.
Louis Vuitton Spring 2014 PFW

The set for the final Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton
runway show was a funereal retrospective
of some of his most magnificent previous installations.

A black lacquer catwalk clad in shearling,
a fountain, carousel, lift shafts
and a giant Louis Vuitton clock
served as backdrop to the collection,
which too was heavily black.
And adorned.
And embellished.
Louis Vuitton Spring 2014 PFW

The story was of giant showgirl headdresses
and bold black brows.

'When I look around Paris it isn't the depth of the city that takes my breath away, it's the ornamentation that dazzles,

said Jacobs, and this was reflected in the embellishment
of a simple fashion story.
Louis Vuitton jeans, embroidered with jet, pailettes, and plumes, simple boxy, fur dresses inset with panels of netting and jewels and lace. A distinct nod to the simple street fashion that women really want to wear, paired with
a luxe excess that draws you to Louis Vuitton.

There was an homage to the enormously successful collaboration Jacobs had with Stephen Sprouse in the early years of his tenure at Louis Vuitton,

The Louis Vuitton show has been the highlight of every fashion month for me. With Marc Jacobs at the helm
every show was spectacular.
How can you surpass the Louis Vuitton 10 Star Hotel, the Carousel, The Elevators, The Louis Vuitton Express??

'It is not about thinking, it is about feeling... I take pleasure from things for exactly what they are, revelling in the pure adornment of beauty for beauty's sake,' Jacobs concluded

His swan song was fittingly majestic. Louis Vuitton was lucky to have him for 16 years. The showgirl in me will miss him.

Makeup and Hair Trends From NYFW Spring 2014

I just finished one of the most insane work weeks ever, and consequently missed the bulk of New York Fashion Week. As much as I wanted to track it all in real time, shooting til midnight everyday got the better of me, so now I'm doing some high speed recapping, tracking both NYFW and now LFW.

Anyway, here are some of the hair and makeup trends that look interesting for spring of 2014:

1. Wet hair.
Seen both as a glam option, and a grungy one, slicked back, wet hair will make getting out the door on time a whole lot easier.

2. Thin blue eyeliner.

Francois Nars did this at Marc Jacobs. Doesn't it look refreshing?
Have to wonder why the Marc Jacobs show didn't use the new Marc Jacobs makeup line?
Regardless, this could be a fun trend for spring.

3. Iridescent Skin with Tangerine Lips

I loved the iridescent skin and tangerine lips at Rag and Bone.
Skin looked alive and quasi futuristic, offset by the bold yet fresh lip.

The tangerine lip was also front and center at Prabal Garung.

4. The Low Ponytail

I loved this at Jason Wu. Across the board designers were showing variations on the low ponytail, from the center part at Wu, to soft and easy at Christain Siriano, sleek at Victoria Beckham and smooth and simple at Altuzarra

5. Metallic Eyes

The Nars team created fresh, metallic lids at Carmen Marc Valvo,
a trend spotted at other designers including Jason Wu, Charlotte Ronson and Prabal Garung.

Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2013 ~ Paris Fashion Week

Its always exciting to see just what Marc Jacobs will
pull out for the Louis Vuitton runway show.
From trains to elevators to carousels
there is always something exciting, innovative
and madly creative.

This week the Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2013
collection at Paris Fashion Week
of the Louis Vuitton 10 Star Luxury Hotel.

48 doors each opened to reveal a model
in a glossy black wig, with bold burgundy hues lips
and chocolate eyes, in various states of dress and undress.

The season's Louis Vuitton woman is
more about a statement of pure luxe
than a defining fashion moment as seen in previous seasons.

She sauntered through the door of her hotel room
in many modes of dress,
from lingerie beneath her fur coat,

Backstage, Marc Jacobs explained:
‘It’s 50 different women, real and imaginary.
It’s my friends and my fantasies.
She can look pulled together or thrown together.
She’s Left Bank. She’s Hollywood.
A bit Gloria Swanson. A bit Juliet Greco.
She’s romantic, erotic, decadent, glamorous and she loves luxury.
The type of woman who expresses herself as an individual.’

For Louis Vuitton handbag enthusiasts
the Pochette Accessoire, the Speedy and the Lockit
received fabulous new treatments,
in marabou, goose feather and waxed crocodile,
with handles hand carved from antique wood,
horn or precious stones.
