Get Alicia Vikander's Golden Globes Makeup Look

Even though it's been 10 days since the Golden Globes, (which makes them borderline ancient history) I keep coming back to the absolutely gorgeous look that superstar makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury did for nominee Alicia Vikander.

This was easily my favorite look of the night.
It was timeless and elegant, yet totally modern. It evoked old Hollywood glamour, and yet was so fresh and new.

I kind of died a little over her Louis Vuitton dress too...

I think one of the things I love most about it is that it's a look that you and I can wear.  It is a sensational look for a bride, it's perfect for any event you're going to (can't you just imagine Amal Clooney rocking this look?), it looks beautiful with whatever you are wearing. If you are throwing on jeans and a biker jacket, if you are dressing for the Met Gala, or anything in between, this makeup look is perfect.

“I wanted to create a dreamy but modern look that highlighted Alicia’s naturally beautiful features. The metallic shades on her eyes complement the dewy, fresh skin in the look.” - Charlotte Tilbury

So here are some of the steps that Charlotte used (ad that you and I can copy!) to create this stunning look.

The Complexion

The key to a really fantastic looking makeup is not what you do with the eyes or the lips, its all about creating an amazing complexion. For more than 20 years now models and celebrities all around the world have been raving about Charlotte's legendary, secret Magic Cream

Everyone wanted to get their hands on it, but until recently it hasn't been available to anyone but the very tightest of her inner circle.
Now you can buy it on her website CharlotteTilbury.com

The next step to creating that lit from within glow was using Wonderglow Primer
icon before applying her foundation. Mini Miracle Eye Wand
icon added luminosity under the eyes. You can use it before or after concealer. (Personally I like to tap it on after.)

The Cheeks
To get this bronzey, luminous cheek Charlotte used Filmstar Bronze And Glow
icon in light/medium, a little Dreamy Glow Highlighter
icon along the upper cheekbone and her Beach Stick cream blush in Las Salinas

The Eyes

Charlotte created this gorgeous golden shimmer of an eye by using some of my favorite of her products. Eyes To Mesmerise Cream Shadow in Bette
icon and in Marie Antoinette, both on the lid and underneath, topped with a little Rock 'n' Kohl Liner in Bedroom Black
icon  and several coats of inky, glossy Full Fat Lashes

The Lips

The look was finished off with a matte lip, using Lip Cheat Liner in Pink Venus
icon and a combination of Matte Revolution lipsticks in Sexy Sienna
icon and Walk Of Shame

As of today it doesn't look like I will be working the Oscars this year, but there is still a few weeks to go, so maybe I will be back again working my absolute favorite gig of the year. You absolutely cannot beat prepping a client for the biggest red carpet in the world!
Regardless of whether I am working it or not I'll be looking to see what magic Charlotte is creating. I call it research....

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Fashion

Last night I was priviledged to go to a private screening of Guy Ritchie's fabulous new movie, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

The film stars Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer as CIA and KGB agents on opposite sides of the Cold War, and Alicia Vikander as an East German car mechanic, caught up in their caper.
Elizabeth Debicki is the villianess, and Hugh Grant is Hugh Grant, and wonderfully so.

Based on the 1960s TV show, Guy Ritchie has created a spy movie reminiscent of Bond movies at their best.
Remember when James Bond was suave and debonair, the ultimate ladies man? Circa Sean Connery and early Roger Moore, when Bond was fun and a little campy, long before Daniel Craig's Bond-of-angst. This movie captures that fun.
And you just know this had to be a really fun movie to work on.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is visually luscious. The scenery is fabulous, much of it shot in Italy, the cars are glorious tributes to the 60s, and there are so many fantastic little visual details (such as villian Victoria's green exterior use telephone - I loved it!!)

Costume designer Joanna Johnston absolutely steals the show with her lavish wardrobe design.

While the men are endlessly dapper and always eye catching, the panache of the ladies' fashion is just jaw dropping.
Rather than take the expected and cliched route of a Mary Quant looking 60s fashion, Johnston took influence from 1966, '67 and '68 and created her own fashion, blowing away any academic correctness with a style of her own that is so stunning, so gorgeous and so on point that everyone will be clamoring to get their hands on identical pieces.

There are so many fashion details that are just perfection.
From Debicki's Emilio Pucci leather trimmed cape to Vikander's belted coat.

The white Henry Holland sunglasses that Alicia Vikander wears in The Man From U.N.C.L.E are already one of the most sought after sunglasses of the season.

Hair and makeup are sensational too. I know this will be one of those movies that I watch over and over.

Thank God Tom Cruise backed out of this movie.
Even with Ritchie at the helm, Cruise would have ruined it.
He was originally slated to play the lead role, that of Napoleon Solo, which instead went to Henry Cavill who was superb.
